Salman Khan and Ayushmann Khurrana hosted the 68th Hyundai Filmfare Awards, which was a star-studded affair. Govinda, Tiger Shroff, Jacqueline Fernandez, and the rest of the cast all gave outstanding performances. Gems like Sanjay Mishra and Neena Gupta’s Vadh, Nagraj Manjule and Amitabh Bachchan’s Jhund, and Ayushmann Khurrana and Anubhav Sinha’s Anek were also recognised amidst all the glitz and splendour.
The evening’s biggest honours went to commercially successful films like Gangubai Kathiawadi, Brahmastra, and Badhaai Do, but critically acclaimed films also received enthusiastic applause and cheers as they took home hardware. Sanjay Mishra’s award for Best Actor (Critics’) for his moving portrayal in Vadh was one of the night’s most notable victories. It goes without saying that Sanjay Mishra was just as ecstatic and jubilant about his triumph as the fans. Luv Ranjan produced the thriller Vadh, which earned Best Debut Director nominations for both Jaspal Singh Sandhu and Rajeev Barnwal.
Amitabh Bachchan starred in the sports drama Jhund, directed by Nagraj Manjule, which was critically acclaimed and won a major award. The young actor Ankush Gedam, who played Mr. Bachchan’s opposite in a film, made such an impression that he was named the year’s Best Debut Male. The Best Debut Female Award went to Andrea Kevichusa, who co-starred with Ayushmann Khurrana in the critically acclaimed film Anek.
While films like Gangubai Kathiawadi, Badhaai Do, and Brahmastra may have received the most attention that evening, smaller films like Vadh, Jhund, and Anek left lasting impressions and served as reminders that good film should always be recognised.
