Highway 8th anniversary: Looking back at lesser known facts about Alia Bhatt-Imtiaz Ali’s movie

8th anniversary
When Alia Bhatt made her acting debut in the critically acclaimed film The Student of the Year, many believed that her next film, Highway, would be a step backward in her career. Alia agreed to play the part after being persuaded to do so by Ranbir Kapoor, Imtiaz Ali’s favourite actor and the object of a lifelong crush on Alia.
Ranbir was the first to be presented with Highway. After working with Ranbir on the films Rockstar and Tamasha, director Imtiaz Ali hoped to complete a trilogy with the actor. On the other hand, Ranbir did not feel the need to take on another sinister part at that time.
Imtiaz Ali adapted his own telefilm, Highway, from the series Rishtey, which aired on Zee TV in 1999. However, not many people are aware of this fact. In the original telefilm episode, the roles of Randeep and Alia were played by Aditya Shrivastava and Kartika Rane, respectively. Both of these actors did an excellent job in their respective roles.
The majority of film fans are of the opinion that Imtiaz’s adaptation for the big screen is not as good as the original television version.
Randeep Hooda put a lot of work into preparing for the film. Because it was established from the beginning that his character Mahabir was not supposed to be familiar with Veera (played by Alia Bhatt), he refrained from associating with Alia during the first phase of filming.
