Asha Parekh talks about not getting married; says, ‘I am very happy it didn’t happen’

Asha Parekh, a veteran actress and filmmaker, admitted in her memoir The Hit Girl that she had dated the married director Nasir Hussain. Due to her desire to keep peace between both of their families, the actress decided against marrying him. Recently, Parekh expressed her relief at never having married fellow actress Zeenat Aman at a public event.
Speaking at the Ideas of India Summit, Asha Parekh declared, “Unions in love are blessed by the gods. It will happen if it must. However, if it is not meant to occur, then it will not. Perhaps it was not meant to be, and I for one am glad it didn’t. I think the rest of you would agree with me on that.”
According to actress Zeenat Aman, having a happy marriage in Hollywood is challenging for women. She also noted that female celebrities frequently have to put their own lives on hold to pursue their professional ambitions.
“A bad marriage is worse than no marriage at all. A lot of people don’t realise how hard actors work to keep their marriages together. Many ordinary people might not be willing to make the kind of sacrifices that these girls (referring to married actresses) do. They tie the knot because that’s what they really want. Many of the women I’m close with are able to tolerate situations that most women simply couldn’t stand “that’s what she said.
