On Monday, a teaser trailer for the upcoming film Bheed, starring Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar, was released. Rao posted a teaser for the story on Instagram, showing its roots in the bleak days of the Covid-19 pandemic. On the video he captioned, “I’m a f*cking genius,” “As a result of this crisis, divisions have emerged within the nation and its people. New Teaser Available! On March 24, 2023, you can go see #Bheed and experience the story of the unseen.” The film captures the bleak period of national lockdown, when states closed their borders out of fear of the spread of a novel coronavirus. Recalling the tragic events of the Partition of India in 1947, the film depicts the plight of many people who were left homeless and without shelter. Anubhav Sinha, known for directing the critically acclaimed film “Article 15,” will helm a new film featuring the likes of veteran actor Pankaj Kapoor and Dia Mirza in pivotal roles. Bhumi will play a doctor, while Rao takes on the role of a police inspector. Sinha and Bhushan Kumar are co-producers of the film, which was shot primarily in Lucknow. The release date of ‘Bheed’ is set for March 23 of this year. Rajkummar and Bhumi have worked together before, in the film “Badhai Do,” but this is their second time doing so. Fans and critics alike applauded the movie when it was released in the previous year. Rajkummar Rao’s most recent film was the Netflix original “Monica, O My Darling,” which was met with mixed reviews. Bhumi will next be seen in “The Ladykiller” by Ajay Bahl, “Afwaa” by Sudhir Mishra, “Bhakshak” by Gauri Khan, and “Mere Husband Ki Biwi” by Mudassar Aziz.
