Wrestlers protesting Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh receive backing from Bollywood stars after Pooja Bhatt, Swara Bhasker, and Sonu Sood speak out in their favour
Wrestlers’ protest against Wrestling Federation of India chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has been met with widespread solidarity. Many of the world’s best wrestlers, including Sangeeta Phogat, Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik, and Bajrang Punia, have joined the movement.
Using his Twitter account, Sonu Sood predicted that Indian athletes would eventually triumph in their fight against inequality. Please say “Jai Hind.”
Swara posted a video message in which she expressed her solidarity with the athletes, adding, “Shameful that our top International athletes are forced to protest on streets against sexual harassment but accused BJP MP is being consistently shielded by the govt.” Sack and investigate #BrijBhushanSharanSingh; I stand with my champions.
If this is the condition of such prominent wrestlers, Swara argues in the film, what will the fate of a common woman/victim be? Swara is not supporting them because they are international level sportsmen. The actress continued by wondering why the leaders of the ruling party are so reluctant to be photographed with these athletes after they have brought glory to the country. She also asked for help from the community by having individuals show up.
Pooja Bhatt had previously attacked the head of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) for their protest against the wrestling team.
