After her Oscars appearance, Deepika Padukone was mistaken for Brazilian model Camila Alves, and the internet was not happy

Brazilian model Camila Alves
Several social media users mistook Deepika Padukone for Camila Alves McConaughey, a Brazilian model and designer who is married to American actor Matthew McConaughey, after she appeared on the Oscar stage to introduce the song Naatu Naatu to the audience.
Possibly due to the similarities between the two, Indian internet users felt offended and took to social media to stir up trouble. Media outlets and Getty Images were tagged in an effort to rectify the situation.
An angry social media user posted, “Your ignorance and racial blindness is showing. To repair, please. Also, another one used the Getty Images tag.
Deepika stepped out on the Oscars stage this morning, wearing a figure-hugging stunning black gown designed by Louis Vuitton to introduce the sensational Indian song, Naatu Naatu, from the film RRR. She was the third Indian to take on the role of a presenter after Persis Khambatta and Priyanka Chopra Jonas. The Oscars later announced that the song had won for Best Original Song.
Deepika described the song as a “banger” with a “irresistibly catchy chorus” and said it was featured in a pivotal scene in RRR, a film with an anti-colonialist theme.
