Career
Actress and new mum Alia Bhatt is riding high on the success of her recent films and the rewards of parenthood. The 30-year-old recently discussed her choice to have daughter Raha during the height of her career, bringing up some important gender biases that we all face on a daily basis.
Alia expressed her sadness in an interview with a major journal about how men are never questioned about having children when they are at the height of their careers. She continued by saying that she had been asked if she was prepared to slow down now that she was expecting a child. Alia clarified that her motivation for making this choice was not courage, as some had suggested, but rather love. Furthermore, Alia decided that after ten years of hard work, she was ready to start a family.
Alia described her decision as “natural and happy,” adding that she always does what she feels is right in life. The star elaborated, saying that she would turn down even the biggest movie role in history if her heart wasn’t in it.
Alia and Ranveer Singh will next be seen in Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, directed by Karan Johar. The movie will premiere in theatres this July.
