On Monday, the first image of Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas in the highly anticipated international series “Citadel” was released by a streaming service. The Russo Brothers’ AGBO banner is executive producing the action-spy thriller, which will debut on the streaming service on April 28. Showrunner David Weil Mason Kane (Madden) and Nadia Sinh (Chopra Jonas) are two of the world’s best spies, but they barely escaped the collapse of the independent global spy agency Citadel with their lives and have had their memories wiped. Since then, they have remained covert, starting fresh with new identities and oblivious to their pasts. Until one night, when Mason is found by Bernard Orlick (Stanley Tucci), an old workmate from the Citadel who needs his help stopping Manticore from establishing a new world order“Mason seeks out his former partner, Nadia, and the two spies embark on a mission that takes them around the world in an effort to stop Manticore, all while contending with a relationship built on secrets, lies, and a dangerous-yet-undying love,” the official plotline reads. Lesley Manville plays Dahlia Archer, Osy Ikhile plays Carter Spence, Ashleigh Cummings plays Abby Conroy, Roland Moller plays Anders Silje, and Caoilinn Springall plays Hendrix Conroy, among many other roles. After an initial two-episode rollout on April 28, a new episode will be added every Friday until May 26. The sequels to “Citadel” will span the globe and tell stories that connect people and cultures from all over. Each show is its own unique global franchise because it is developed, produced, and filmed locally. Currently, both Italy and India are producing episodes of the “Citadel” series. Matilda De Angelis stars in the Italian adaptation, while Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu head the cast in India.
