It’s natural to be sceptical of Dead Island 2’s quality, given that it’s been in development for over ten years (and general existence). Developer Dambuster Studios has released an extended gameplay walkthrough in an effort to persuade players that is not only nearly complete, but a worthy follow-up. One of the game’s six playable characters is Irish punk rocker Dani, and the guided demo follows her through a large portion of the game’s moment-to-moment action across multiple environments. The bloody F.L.E.S.H. system is on full display, as are the bizarre improvised weapons, such as electrified claws reminiscent of those worn by Wolverine. A card-based perk system and a peculiar sidequest involving pizza are also demonstrated. On April 21, it will be available for the PS5, Xbox One X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
