Amitabh Bachchan’s co-star Jaya Bachchna recently spoke up about the time she refused to film a rape scene for the film “Ek Nazar.”

Jaya Bachchan is widely regarded as one of the best actresses in Indian cinema, because to her performances in classics like “Guddi,” “Abhimaan,” and “Chupke Chupke.” To this day, the actress maintains a reputation for candour. Did you know that even when she was young, she made courageous decisions and remained firm in them? In the case of the rape scene in her film “Ek Nazar,” she firmly refused to participate.
When filmmaker BR Ishara told the actress that her garments would be torn for a rape scene, she replied no, according to an interview she gave to Rajya TV. An excerpt from the actress’s statement reads, “I was told that your garments will be destroyed, I responded ‘no, I will not let it. After a heated dispute with Babu da (BR Ishara), during which he threatened to abandon the project, I told him to go ahead and do it. I told the producer, “Do whatever you want; I’m reporting you to the artists’ union if you don’t.”
The actress has always been wary about how much of herself she wants to show in her roles. She continued by warning the director that if he forces her to do anything, she will act so poorly that it will ruin the film. The production halted for two days after being called off. Jaya was co-starring with Amitabh Bachchan in this 1972 film, and Bachchan stepped in to say that Jaya should play the role as written. The starlet, however, made it crystal plain that she would not be tearing her garments. I refuse to have my clothing ripped off camera.
Sudhir acted the part of the man who was planning to rape her. The director and actress reached an agreement that she would perform the sequence in her usual, unrehearsed manner. I beat the villain so hard during the rape scene that he was injured. He told me, ‘I don’t want to rape her,’” the actress laughedly revealed during the interview.
Jaya has admitted that she has always been uncomfortable with showing her body on film, either as a result of her middle-class upbringing or her origins in a tiny village.
The actress from Mili revealed that she has always been uncomfortable with showing too much skin on camera. For some reason, I’ve always been terrified of baring my skin in public. Maybe it’s because I grew up in a middle-class home or in a small town. Whatever it was, she couldn’t do it.
After collaborating on ‘Ek Nazar’ in 1972, Big B and Jaya appeared in ‘Zanjeer’ together in May of 1973. They tied the knot that June of the same year.
