At last night’s climactic 68th annual Hyundai Filmfare Awards 2023, Rajkummar Rao of ‘Badhaai Do’ fame took home the Best Actor trophy. His co-star, Bhumi Pednekar, was also a big winner at the ceremony, taking home the award for Best Actress (Critics’).
Rajkummar, overcome with emotion, casually unveiled a slideshow of himself holding the prize. In addition, he wrote a heartfelt letter of appreciation. The first thing he said was how much he appreciated his wife Patralekha. After receiving his award for “Best Actor Popular” in “BadhaaiDo” at the 68th Annual Filmfare Awards in 2023, the actor tweeted his congratulations. God, you’re awesome. There is nothing quite like this. This is my fourth black woman, and I couldn’t have done it without the support and encouragement of my amazing girlfriend, @patralekhaa. I appreciate your unwavering support, love.
Moreover, he thanked his “most beautiful family” in Gurgaon and Shillong. Thank you, fans, for supporting our #BadhaaiDo so enthusiastically. I adore all of you I’d want to extend my gratitude to @filmfare, @jiteshpillaai, and the world’s best Jury. To #Harshwardhan Kulkarni, my bhai, thank you and congrats. Keep the magic going; you have magician skills. My lifelong brother was born in #BadhaaiDo.
He went on to congratulate his fellow winners, Bhumi and Sheeba Chaddha. “@bhumipednekar I wish you a great day. No one could have played Suman better than you, so thank you for being such a lovely Co-actor and sharing this amazing experience with me. Hello there, yaar. I’m your pal, Buddy. I appreciate the embrace on the balcony, @sheeba.chadha ji. All of Shardul kind could use a mum like you. Your victory is well-deserved. We owe a great deal to the performances of @chum_darang, @gulshandevaiah78, and @seemabhargavapahwa ma’am #ShashiBhushan. We appreciate @jungleepictures and @amritapndy for their support of this moving film. The author appreciates #VinitJain sir’s confidence in this work.”
But Rajkummar wasn’t finished. There was a lengthier list of people he wanted to thank, including the technicians and anybody else who helped out with the project. In order to conceal their sexual orientation, the protagonists of ‘Badhaai Do’ get married under the guise of a lavender union.
