According to Oscar-winning producer Guneet Monga, the method in which love stories are depicted on television has changed throughout the years yet remains popular with audiences.
She was discussing the themes of her new web series “Gutur Gu,” which centres on the difficulties that young couples face.
Ashlesha Thakur (from ‘The Family Man’) and Vishesh Bansal (from ‘Yeh Meri Family’) are featured. This online series is a continuation of her work with filmmaker Saqib Pandor, who cast Ashlesha and Vishesh in the short film “Gupt Gyan.”
When asked about the rise in popularity of love stories on the internet, she responded that creators are still drawn to the romance genre no matter the format.
Guneet stated, “I don’t think that the Hindi film industry has stopped making romantic stories, but rather, there has been an evolution of love stories on screen.”
Several well-known movies (including “Gangs of Wasseypur,” “Peddlers,” “The Lunchbox,” “Masaan,” “Zubaan,” and “Pagglait”) have included her. Recently, she garnered media attention after her documentary short “The Elephant Whisperers” won an Academy Award.
Guneet elaborated on the preferred genre, saying, “Stories that are now more diverse and inclusive, are a larger depiction of the unique perspectives that extend across India. That’s the power of content, really; it adapts to the times. But the heart of a good love story never changes.
‘Gutar Gu’ is a film starring Ashlesha Thakur and Vishesh Bansal, produced by Guneet Monga’s Sikhya Entertainment. The tv show “Gutar Gu” is available for streaming on a subscription service.
