LHC releases PTI member Shah Mahmood Qureshi Ex-foreign minister to see Imran Khan tomorrow:Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Vice Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was released from Rawalpindi’s Adiala jail on the order of the court, causing the PTI to breathe a sigh of relief.The former foreign minister’s release was verified by jail officials, who said it was per the instructions of the Lahore High Court’s Rawalpindi Bench.Speaking to the media shortly after his release from Adiala Jail, he remarked, “I want to tell PTI workers that the ‘flag of justice’ is in my hands and I am still part of this movement.”

Former Foreign Minister Qureshi has announced that he will meet PTI Chairman Imran Khan at Khan’s Lahore home in Zaman Park tomorrow (Wednesday) to discuss the current political scenario.The senior leader of the PTI claimed that the party is going through “tough and testing times” because of the government’s crackdown on party members and officials following the May 9 riots.”But don’t lose hope,’sun of justice’ will rise again,” he concluded.After meeting Khan, the former prime minister who was removed from power through a vote of no confidence in April of last year, Qureshi stated that he would update the media on PTI’s next steps.

The PTI leader was released earlier today under an order from the LHC. After the violent demonstrations on May 9, Qureshi, the former foreign minister, was arrested many times.The Rawalpindi Bench of the LHC ruled at a hearing on a petition challenging his detention that Qureshi should no longer be detained under the MPO.The court also ruled that the MPO orders issued by the Rawalpindi deputy commissioner were invalid and ordered the PTI vice chairman’s immediate release without requiring him to post bail.

The government was defended by Assistant Attorney General Abid Aziz Rajouri, while PTI leader Qureshi was represented by lawyer Taimoor Malik and his daughter.The judge asked the law officer present at the hearing if Qureshi had made any statements or organised any demonstrations.The judge made the remark, “No political leader can control his words in a political gathering,” when ordering the law officer to provide evidence against the ex-foreign minister.The official requested further time to submit evidence at this point.The court, however, ordered him to update the court within an hour of receiving government instructions.The court recessed for one additional hour.

Meanwhile, the police in Qureshi’s home province of Punjab submitted a report on the charges against him.Nine separate cases have reportedly been filed against Qureshi in the province of Punjab. There are five cases recorded at various Multan police stations and four cases registered in Lahore.The daughter of the PTI leader requested the report, therefore it was written and submitted on her behalf.Several top PTI officials were detained when protests broke out on May 9 in response to the detention of PTI Chairman Imran Khan.After his arrest on corruption accusations, there were riots between PTI supporters and law enforcement, resulting in at least eight deaths.

Notable PTI members who have been arrested include Qureshi, Asad Umar, Shireen Mazari, Fawad Chaudhry, and Yasmeen Rashid.Umar, Mazari, and Chaudhry were among the liberated leaders. As a sign of protest against the violent demonstrations, several of them have also left the party and broken ties with the former prime minister.
