Actress Madhuri Dixit held a prayer meet today following the death of her mother, Snehlata Dixit, on March 12. On Friday night, the actress was spotted arriving at the prayer meet with her husband, Dr. Shriram Nene. The prayer meet was attended by many famous people, including Vidya Balan, Boney Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Jaaved Jaaferi, Subhash Ghai, and Riteish Deshmukh.
When she died, Snehlata Dixit had lived a full ninety years. In an Instagram post a day after Aai’s death, Madhuri Dixit gushed, “Woke up this morning to find Aai’s room empty. There’s a dreamlike quality to it. We learned from her to enjoy each day to the fullest. Many people benefited from her generosity. Despite our sadness, she will remain in our hearts and minds forever. Her charm, enthusiasm, and poise were contagious. Together, we will honour her memory by recalling happy times spent together. “Om shanti om.”
Dr. Shriram Nene had written a tribute to his mother-in-law, who had passed away peacefully this morning surrounded by her loved ones: “Our beloved Aai, Snehalata Dikshit. I feel exhausted on all levels. All of you have made this experience bearable with your love and support. She was the embodiment of the term “saint,” brimming with vitality, wit, patience, and a wicked sense of humour that broke down any wall. Her absence will be keenly felt, but she will never be forgotten. For all of us, she will live on in our recollections forever.
