Lara Dutta reveals the truth about her relationship with tennis pro It’s Mahesh Bhupathi!

Lara Dutta turns 45 today, so in honour of her special day, we’re revisiting her romance with tennis pro Mahesh Bhupathi. They’ve been married for about 12 years and have a daughter named Saira who’s 11.
It all began in 2000, when Mahesh saw Lara during a party honouring Priyanka Chopra and Lara at the Miss Universe and Miss World pageants, respectively. However, Mahesh finally got to meet and talk to Lara in 2009. And it began on a businesslike note. At the time, Mahesh was at the helm of a firm called Globosport, which handles talent and celebrity management, and they reached out to Lara for employment opportunities. According to Lara, the first message she got from Mahesh was an invitation to meet up over drinks, which she felt to be rather unprofessional. Since she doesn’t partake in alcoholic beverages, she suggested they meet for coffee instead, and they did so between his several tournaments to talk business. He already knew she wasn’t seeing anybody else.
While Lara was in London filming Houseful, things started to go downhill. Three weeks passed before Mahesh left on his tour of the United States. Lara not only attended his birthday party with his friends and family, but she also learned that he is currently single. The two partners then decided to give their relationship another try.
Mahesh is said to have proposed to Lara twice before she said yes; the first time, he reportedly didn’t have a ring and didn’t get down on one knee. While Lara and Mahesh were both attending separate events, they decided to spend some time together, and Mahesh popped the question to her at 2 in the morning. Since there was not a bell nor any other show of formality, she gave a vague “definitely maybe” response. To seal the deal, Mahesh took Lara to an Italian restaurant in New York at the following stop of their US trip and popped the question.
