The Switch version of Marvel’s Midnight Suns will not be released

Next week, Marvel’s Midnight Suns will have new features and be available on additional platforms. However, the announcement of the launch comes with some disappointing news for Switch owners: Marvel’s Midnight Suns will not be coming to Switch.
2K and Firaxis confirm the news in a blog post published today, stating, “Nintendo Switch version of Suns is no longer planned.”
In addition to delaying various console versions of Marvel’s Midnight Suns, Firaxis pushed back the release date of the hero strategy game. In December of 2018, versions for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S were released, while versions for PS4, Xbox One, and Switch did not appear until much later.
Midnight Suns releases on May 11 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. In addition to the release of new platforms, a new character upgrade has been implemented, bringing Storm from the X-Men to the Midnight Suns.
In the “Blood Storm” patch, the mutant who controls the weather will join the fight, and she plans to bring the heat. This is the “fourth and final” post-launch DLC for Marvel’s Midnight Suns, as stated in the trailer. The Abbey’s T.H.R.E.A.T. room has also been upgraded thanks to the new content. A final showdown awaits those who have completed all of the downloadable content, including Storm.

It’s disappointing that Switch owners won’t be able to play Midnight Suns. Portability seemed to be a perfect fit for Firaxis’ Verified for Steam Deck, a tactical hero game. It also has me wondering if any other potential Switch ports are still in development.
The journey of Marvel’s Midnight Suns has been both unusual and fascinating. Despite the lacklustre initial sales, I’ve played through a fair amount of it and appreciated the strategic perspective on superhero brawling it offered. Plus, it features some of the characters we rarely see in other Marvel titles and some interesting social themes back at the Abbey. Unfortunately, those who own a Switch will not be able to test it out.
