Rajkummar Rao, whose new film “Bheed” has been much praised since its release, has broken his silence about a viral video from 2012 in which he can be seen kissing Sonam Kapoor. This video, first posted in 2015, has suddenly become viral and caused a social media frenzy. For the uninitiated, Sonam’s shade-throwing toward Rajkummar in that video drew criticism.
In a recent interview, Rajkummar was questioned about the origins of the viral video that has sparked so much debate. The multitalented actor admitted that the clip is dated and that much has changed in the industry since then. He was also adamant that Sonam is one of the most generous young women and that she holds everyone in high regard, not just Rajkummar. She is constantly aiding others. The famous actor went as far as calling Sonam a “dear friend” and admitting he recently stopped by Sonam’s house to meet her son Vayu.
He says the video was manipulated a certain way and that all they were doing was making their point.
Sonam had discussed her struggles in Bollywood and getting cast in a Sanjay Leela Bhansali film in her 2015 video. A quote from the actor: “Why do I have to start since I am a senior actor here” Rajkummar, too, has spoken about his difficulties breaking into Bollywood: “A lot of people did not want to audition me for the lead part. Possibly superficial reasons are at play at times. I have no idea how they felt, but there were occasions when they flat-out refused to even consider me for the roles in question.
