The heroes of Overwatch 2 are all die-hard fans of One Punch Man, because, why not?

Overwatch 2
The upcoming One Punch Man costumes are being used by Blizzard’s heroes for a canonical reason.
Dion Rogers, art director for Overwatch 2, told Xbox Wire(opens in new tab) that players who don’t unlock the full game can still enjoy the crossover skins as “big fans” of the One Punch Man series.
We take the tack that our protagonists are familiar with the anime and may even be fans themselves. They’ve even got costumes to match their heroic roles “- Rogers remarked. “Doomfist is a fan, as evidenced by his adoption of Saitama’s costume.
Kiriko, the hero shooter’s wall-climbing support character, is getting a Tatsumaki (Terrible Tornado) skin. The new skin transforms her into the psychic One Punch Man character by replacing her colourful wardrobe with black clothing and giving her green hair.
Since Overwatch 2 is set in 2077 and Kiriko is in her early 20s, it’s safe to assume that the popularity of One Punch Man has endured for at least 60 years in this alternate timeline. If I had to guess, I’d say Neon Genesis Evangelion is the one that will last the longest. I can understand why Doomfist and Soldier: 76, who are much older than Kiriko, would dress up as characters from One Punch Man.
Rogers added that the enthusiasm for One Punch Man among the staff is what led to their pursuit of this partnership. In the case of Doomfist, the game’s opening voice line(opens in new tab) alludes to One Punch Man.
