“Chhatriwali,” produced by Ronnie Screwvala and directed by Tejas Prabha Vijay Deoskar, is an attempt to send a powerful social message about the necessity of male contraceptives and safe sex.
In the slice-of-life film ‘Chhatriwali,’ set in Haryana, Rakul is at first portrayed as timid and self-conscious about her role as a waitress. She comes to appreciate the significance of sexually safe practices and subsequently takes it upon herself to normalize the topic of sex education.
The tone is set and the message delivered with humor and sensitivity without being preachy, and the film manages to be both entertaining and appropriate for children.
The film, which also features lead performances from Sumeet Vyas, Satish Kaushik, and Rajesh Tailang, has been available on the aforementioned OTT service as of January 20.
