Wheel of Time

Through her narration of “The Wheel of Time” audiobooks, Rosamund Pike delves even farther into the series.Pike believes that being an audiobook narrator is a natural progression of her acting career.Rosamund Pike, who is best known for her performance as Moiraine Damodred in the television adaptation of “The Wheel of Time,” has a significant role in both the on-screen and off-screen aspects of the epic series.Pike, who moved her family to Prague for the creation of the show, is not only enthusiastic about playing the role of her character, but she is also narrating a new edition of Robert Jordan’s audiobooks for use in the series.

Her mother Caroline Friend, who is also an accomplished opera singer, serves as Pike’s director for the audiobooks. The two of them had been listening to audiobooks together since Pike was a toddler.”When I was a child, we would often travel quite long distances in cars, and we’d listen to books on tape,” Pike told EW. “We would always discuss the readers and whether they were successful, because there were some that we really didn’t respond to, but others were absolutely wonderful.”Pike considers narrating audiobooks to be a natural extension of her acting career, and she has narrated books such as “Restless” and a version of “Pride and Prejudice” in the past.

Lord of the Rings

She does, however, underline the difficulties involved in becoming the voice of each and every character in the story as well as switching between a variety of emotions.”You can be on the verge of breaking with emotion as you play some very difficult scene, but then the narration in between the dialogue has to be sharp and clear,” adds Pike. “You have to be able to keep it together.” “That is one of the challenges: Characters can die, but the narration must carry on, and you have to behave as all of those different people.Working on the audiobooks increased Pike and Friend’s understanding for the epic scope and intricate nature of Jordan’s “Wheel of Time” series, which goes far beyond the original comparisons to “The Lord of the Rings.”
