When veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha first entered the film industry, he had a significant scar on his face. He was incredibly self-assured, but he was initially very self-conscious about his scar and would often hide it with his hands. He had consulted with a cosmetic surgeon and was scheduled for surgery. But it was Dev Anand who helped him get over his fears and doubts.
It was because of him that I realised how hard you work and how much you are loved. As time goes on, this scar will become a fashionable addition. The gaps in Dev ji’s teeth were another illustration he gave me. Many people in the audience expressed their appreciation. Shatrughan recently told Aaj Tak at an event, “I would like to tell the same thing to the younger generation too that if you are confident and good at your work, these flaws do not matter.”
When asked about the incident that left him with a scar on his face, Shatrughan recalled being two or three years old when his uncle from his mother’s side was preparing to leave for the United States to pursue higher education. Shaving was one of the last things he did before leaving, and he kept the razor close by. With it, the actor attempted to shave his sister’s face. The incident left her with a cut. He thought his sister didn’t know how to shave, so he tried it on his face and ended up cutting himself pretty badly.
Until recently in his life, Shatrughan had no idea that when he got cut he wasn’t even taken to the hospital to get stitched up. He claimed that while his mother and aunt were preoccupied with packing, they applied ashes to the wound. “Main toh baccha tha aur yeh daag reh gaya,” he continued.
Later he elaborated, saying, “When I, with a face like this, could become an actor, people were inspired. However, the good looks of Raj Kapoor, Dilip Kumar, and Dev Anand made audiences perspire. He went on to say that a few years back, his daughter Sonakshi Sinha had said that her father’s scar is his most endearing feature.
