SS Rajamouli explains why Oscars are important for growth in the country

SS Rajamouli literally puts a stamp on his films that lets audiences know it is his film, and with his last film RRR which starred Ram Charan, Jr NTR, Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn, the ace director left his mark worldwide, especially after Naatu Naatu won the Oscar in the Best Original Song category.
Explaining why the win was so important for the country as well, he gave the example of South Korean films. He said the South Korean film industry was tiny ten years ago, but thanks to Parasite’s Oscar win and a few smash hits, it has expanded exponentially. And because of the success of these films and movies, people today are also interested in their food, in their cosmetics etc. If Indian cinema can break into international markets, the country’s fashion industry will benefit as well.
It was in 2019 when Bong Joon-ho’s Parasite became the first Korean film to win the Oscar for Best film. Since then, people across the globe have expressed more interest in Korean content – from K-dramas to Korean pop music and more.
