The new date for Starfield’s release is September 6, 2023

Since its unfortunate delay last year, the release date has been the subject of much debate. However, Bethesda has now committed to a new date: September 6th, 2023. Director Todd Howard broke the news in a two-minute video and announced that Bethesda would be holding a special Starfield Direct in June, right before E3.
First, in the announcement trailer, we see stunning space cinematography from Bethesda, and then in the final minute, we visit with a youthful Howard in the Bethesda Game Studios offices. Howard had a lot to say, but if you’re like me, the desert planet running in the background on the TV will keep you from paying attention.
We have put everything we have into this game, Howard says. Even I’m shocked by how much we can pour; it really is that big. We knew there would be hundreds of planets to explore, so its size made sense.
On the same day that E3 is starting, Howard said, the company will hold a special Direct to show off more of the game. This date is likely to coincide with Xbox and Bethesda’s traditional E3-timed showcase (update: Xbox have now confirmed that, yes, the Starfield Direct will follow the Xbox Games Showcase on June 11th). Despite the fact that Starfield wasn’t featured during January’s Xbox Developer Direct, we now know that this June’s Starfield Direct will provide a more in-depth look at Bethesda’s massive role-playing game.
Howard explains that there is “so much that we still have to show you” regarding the Starfield Direct. In many ways, the game is typical of our work. Additionally, it’s a one-of-a-kind adventure.
faction quests are similar to Skyrim’s and less like Fallout’s, if that’s what you’re looking for in terms of specifics. Starfield has more dialogue than both Skyrim and Fallout 4, so the tease of “more complex relationships” made sense. Lots of chances to have a romantic encounter with an alien.
The Starfield Direct will air on June 11 (exact time to be confirmed), right in time for the E3 conference.
