The Bachchans, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, and Kajol all attend Pamela Chopra’s funeral
On Wednesday, a who’s who of Bollywood gathered together to mourn the loss of Pamela Chopra, a producer, singer, and writer who was also the wife and creative force behind acclaimed director and Yash Raj Films founder Yash Chopra.
Members of the Hindi film industry rushed to the Chopra mansion in the Juhu-Tara Road neighbourhood of Mumbai after her cremation on Thursday morning.
Amitabh Bachchan, who has known the Chopras since the days of their blockbuster film “Deewaar,” was there, as were his son Abhishek and daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and his son Aryan, Aamir Khan and his ex-wife Kiran Rao, and Shabana Azmi. Uday Chopra, the younger son of Yash and Pamela, greeted everyone.
Pathaan, like SRK’s previous hits Darr and Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (for which Pamela Chopra sung the hit song “Ichak Dana”), was just released by YRF. Kajol, his co-star in DDLJ and a first cousin of Yash and Pamela Chopra’s daughter-in-law Rani Mukherji.
‘Kisi Ka Bhai, Kisi Ki Jaan’ was set to premiere in theatres on Friday, but Salman Khan postponed the exclusive pre-release screening out of respect for Pamela Chopra.
Other members of the film fraternity to visit the Chopra home and pay their respects were Hrithik Roshan, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, Boman Irani, Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif, Shraddha Kapoor, Poonam Dhillon, Neil Nitin Mukesh, and composer Salim Merchant of the Salim-Sulaiman duo, who have worked on YRF productions such as ‘Fanaa’, ‘Mardaani’, ‘Ladies vs Ricky Bahl’ and ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’.
Due to an age-related sickness, Pamela Chopra was hospitalised to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai two weeks ago. The medics apparently put her on a ventilator, but her condition continued to worsen.
