Former child star turned Instagram star Zeenat Aman has been posting stunning photos with touching remarks. Zeenat wrote a moving tribute to her late mother Vardhini Scharwachter on Monday, calling her a “pataka” and the “rock” of her life.
The actress captioned a vintage black and white portrait of her mother with, “If I have led an incredible life it’s because I was brought up by an extraordinary woman.” The word you would use to describe my mom would be “pataka.” Her name was Vardhini Scharwachter. Beautiful, bright, and bold; a rock for me.
She went on to say, “She was a devout Hindu and she exemplified the principles of tolerance, love, and empowerment. She was deeply religious, yet that did not prevent her from marrying my father, Amanullah Khan. After they divorced, she met and married a great German man I affectionately referred to as “Uncle Heinz.” She instilled in me the confidence to strike out on my own and make my own way in the world. She was the rudder on my ship.
The veteran actress recently discussed her early career, writing, “In the 1970s the film and fashion industry was entirely male dominated, and I would often be the only woman on a set.” Many skilled men have captured me on film and camera during my career. However, a woman’s vision is unique.
In the ’70s, Zeenat Aman debuted as a leading lady in Bollywood. She has appeared in a wide variety of films, including Yaadon Ki Baarat, Satyam Shivam Sundaram, Qurbani, Dharam Veer, Hare Rama Hare Krishna, and Insaaf Ka Tarazu.
