Zia Mohyeddin passes away
He breathed his last at 6.30am, according to his family. The funeral prayer would be offered in the Defence area of Karachi.

Zia Mohyeddin was 91.
After a brief illness, Pakistani pioneer Zia Mohyeddin passed away on Monday. He was 91.
The seasoned actor, director, and TV host was taken to a hospital in Karachi, where he lives, with complaints of abdominal pain and a fever. After the operation, he was put on life support.
As far as his family is aware, he passed away at 6:30 a.m. The Defence neighbourhood of Karachi was chosen as the location for the funeral prayer.
Actor, broadcaster, and poet Zia Mohyeddin came into the world in 1931 in the city of Faisalabad, Punjab, Pakistan. Additionally, he was the president emeritus of Karachi’s National Institute of Performing Arts, where he mentored many aspiring performers. In addition, he contributed columns to numerous publications.
Outside of his work in British film and television, Moheyddin spent the majority of his career appearing in front of Pakistani audiences on both film and television. He is best known for his roles in the films Lawrence of Arabia (1962) by David Lean, Behold the Pale Horsein (1964) by Fred Zinnemann, and Immaculate Conception (1992) by Jamil Dehlavi.
In 2012, the veteran actor was recognised for his artistic achievements with the Hilal-e-Imtiaz, Pakistan’s second-highest civilian honour. He has written three books: A Carrot Is a Carrot, Theatrics, and Reflections on the God of My Idolatry.
The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, has mourned the loss of the legendary singer. The premier was quoted in the Dawn newspaper as saying that Mohyeddin’s art was “one of its kind” and that his distinctive style was admired not only in Pakistan but around the world.
It’s unfortunate that someone with so many positive traits has left society. We will never forget what Zia Mohyeddin said; his words will echo in our heads forever.
